About

Hello there! I’m a poet, an educator, and an avid reader as well as traveler. After studying creative writing and poetry in college, I spent four years teaching and adventuring in Madrid, Spain, and I am now happily teaching Spanish to crazy and wonderful middle schoolers. I love to talk about poetry and books, practice painting in watercolor, explore my hometown of Philadelphia, and revel in the unfamiliar. I believe in the power of poetry to transform and connect people, through the affirmative act of writing and the creation of sharing communities. Here you’ll find an informal portfolio of my written work, my travels, thoughts on books and poetry, and sketches of life, both visual and created from sound.

If you’d like to drop a line, you can e-mail me at: ablefires658@gmail.com

Happy perusing!

Cheers,

Mabel
