In the end I’m taking back what I’ve said about the rain and the cold in the last entry. These past two weeks have been as if winter has arrived again to Madrid. I have to settle down in some tropical place for the rest of my life…
Madriz Bajo la Lluvia
What is there to do during a rainy day in Madrid but to go out of the house with our umbrellas and wait for the bus? We take a long walk downtown and arrive at La Latina, where we have some beers. Now that we’ve had so many sunny days these past 2 months, it’s nice to see the city under the rain and clouds.
Plaza Mayor.

The city was completely flooded with tourists this weekend. All the Spanish had gone and a multitude of Americans were here on vacation.

Easter Week on the Coast
A road trip to San Jose, Almeria. A full gas tank, two people, and some 450 kilometers from Madrid. Views of the Sierra Nevada, fields, olive plantations, windmills.
A collection of things at the beach in Monsul. Chilly mornings, coffees and empanadas filled with tomato.
A view of the Mediterranean from the rocks.
In this corner of Spain they used to film old American western movies, and they built studios with buildings, houses, and even Indian teepees.
We went to a nudist beach. It was relaxing and freeing.
We also to went to Granada the last day of vacation to see the Alhambra, but we could only enter to see the gardens because there were too many tourists. Even so, it was an extraordinary visit.
